Today's review is about Avene's Gentle Toning Lotion, or, Lotion tonique douceur. This deluxe sample - another gift with purchase (GWP) - has an ingredient I had not seen before on a toner. What's that?

Another deodorant review. This time, it's Lady Speed Stick's Smells Like Teen Spirit, Pink Crush edition.
I started using this when I was in the midst of recovering from an armpit disaster caused by a sensitivity to another deodorant (see previous post review-byphasse-deodorant-24h-rosee-du-matin.html) and was worried it would irritate my pits further. A Korean moisturiser today! Acwell has been featured on Soko Glam and Yesstyle's online shops, but I have seen them locally in both Olive Young and Watsons (now lalavla by the looks of it). I got this cream from Watsons when it was on sale for round about KRW10,000.
In the past, I have used, loved and repurchased Acwell's Bubble Free pH Balancing Cleanser, which really cleaned thoroughly and calmed my skin down when it was acting up - unfortunately I don't have an empty to show you. I eventually stopped using their cleanser simply because of the price point, which I thought a bit steep - around KRW26,000 if paying full price, KRW19,500 if on sale - especially seeing as there are a variety of other skin pH neutral cleansers available nowadays at much better prices. Due to the fact that I loved their cleansers so much, I had high hopes for this moisturiser, too. How did I get on? Another deodorant by Byphasse. I loved their sweet almond oil deodorant, which I have reviewed here review-byphasse-deodorant-24h-a-lhuile-damande-douce.html, but what about this one?
It smelled beautifully of cream and roses, and applied just like any other roll on, meaning that it did take a moment to absorb into skin. It also kept me smelling fresh throughout the day. However, I did run into a bit of a problem with this bad boy. I was using it during the winter months and my skin overall was much drier than usual, So perhaps I should have been prepared for the armpit-skin-disaster that happened next. Whew, this one's a mouthful! And what a great product it is. I absolutely love this one and keep repurchasing it because of the amazing results it delivers. But first, let's talk about essences.
Essences are, as far as I am aware, more of a Korean than a Western thing. What I (and many others) like to do is use them after toner, but before serums and/or moisturiser, oil, or sunscreen. Missha's in particular is an essence that contains fermented yeast. SK-II might have been the pioneer of the yeast essences, for, if I remember correctly, a whole slew of yeast essences followed suit when SK-II launched theirs. I have not tried SK-II's offering, and therefore cannot comment on its efficacy or whether it is different to Missha's. All I know is that I lurrrrve Missha's essence - let me tell you why. An A.H.C. eye cream! Funny sounding slogan aside (eye cream... for face? I mean, that's where our eyes usually are...), this was my first foray into the brand.
Recently, they were all over my YouTube as almost all videos were preluded by an A.H.C. advertisement with Anne Hathaway. I had never really been keen on trying their offerings though, as they seem to be geared towards an age bracket that is slightly older than myself. Judging from their advertising, I'd say they're targeting the 35-50 year olds. But I digress. This deluxe sample was handed to me as a gift with purchase at then Watsons, now lalavla. Today, one of my favourite pimple fighting serums. ISOI's Blemish Care Serum Plus.
It's rather expensive - definitely high-end drugstore, right among French pharmacy brands like Uriage, Vichy and the like. One small bottle of 35 ml retails for around KRW 32 at my local Olive Young, which equals around USD 30. On Amazon, it retails for USD 59.00. Whee - what a difference in price, isn't it? Here's your TL,DR: It's expensive but great. Today's review is of Trilogy's hydrating mist toner. I got this as a gift with purchase (GWP) when I got their amazing organic rose hip oil - more on that one in a later post (hint: rose hip oil changed my life. no joke).
I used it during the summer months over makeup during the day, mainly to refresh myself. It smells beautifully delicate of rose and lavender but in a medicinal sort of way, if that makes sense. Okay, last one for now. I promise!
Just like the last few fresh products, here is another lovely smelling face mask that actually smells of actual roses. The texture, too, is amazing in that it is a gel containing small sivers of a slightly denser jelly material that disintegrates upon contact with the skin. It feels very refreshing as it goes on the skin, and applies very smoothly. The gel borders on liquid-y, so you definitely need to be a little careful when putting it on, or else it may slide right off. This is what fresh's website says: A unique gel formula infused with real rose petals and pure rosewater that hydrates and tones the complexion. ... and is that it? Whee! Finally, a Korean product again. I was getting a little antsy over featuring so many Western products when this was supposed to be a Korean beauty blog. This time, it's The Face Shop's Soft Cream Blusher in Pink.
Now that I have used up this blusher entirely, I do actually miss it. The only reason why I am not repurchasing it is because I have two other pink blushers, one of which is a liquid blush, and I have forbidden myself from buying duplicates. Ugh. Let me tell you why I liked using this so much. |
