A Korean moisturiser today! Acwell has been featured on Soko Glam and Yesstyle's online shops, but I have seen them locally in both Olive Young and Watsons (now lalavla by the looks of it). I got this cream from Watsons when it was on sale for round about KRW10,000. In the past, I have used, loved and repurchased Acwell's Bubble Free pH Balancing Cleanser, which really cleaned thoroughly and calmed my skin down when it was acting up - unfortunately I don't have an empty to show you. I eventually stopped using their cleanser simply because of the price point, which I thought a bit steep - around KRW26,000 if paying full price, KRW19,500 if on sale - especially seeing as there are a variety of other skin pH neutral cleansers available nowadays at much better prices. Due to the fact that I loved their cleansers so much, I had high hopes for this moisturiser, too. How did I get on? Actually, it was not bad, but I would not be very interested in repurchasing. Allow me to elaborate.
While using this cream, I found that it did not break me out. Due to the high amount of silicone, present in the form of dimethicone, it smoothed over skin like a silicone primer and made it look even and even poreless. If you are looking for a moisturiser without SPF that doubles as a primer, this is definitely an interesting option. It also is low on irritants as per cosDNA, as, while there are some present, they are pretty low on the ingredients list. The silicone, however, is what personally put me off. I like my skincare to be skincare and my makeup to be makeup. If I feel that I need a bit of smoothing, I may add a primer over my moisturisers and sunscreen - I don't want a skincare cream to make that decision for me. Also, due to the fact that my skin is acne prone and oily but severely dehydrated, I find that I need lots and lots of hydration that can last throughout the day. This cream, however, was only mildly hydrating at best - definitely not hydrating enough to keep my skin happy all day long. To be completely honest, I felt that the silicone was actually sucking up a lot of my precious moisturising layer sandwich I'd created on my face. It did not exactly dry me out, but, ironically, I felt less hydrated with that moisturising cream than without it. If your skin is naturally well hydrated and supple, and you want a bit of smoothing goodness, then check this one out for yourself. If you are looking for lots of hydration, however, it may not be your perfect match just yet.
