Yesterday's palette was about Catrice's foundation. Today, let me talk about their concealer palette!
This is a nifty little palette, very light, easy to carry and to pack. I have not been able to go travelling for a long time, so cannot attest to how well it does on a trip, but I would imagine that this palette would do extremely well on the road. I paid about KRW 6,000 at my local Watsons when it was on sale (ca USD 5), a price you really cannot argue with. How did I fare?

Ah, Catrice. When I was growing up in Germany, this used to be one of my favourite brands for eyeliner, eye lid primers and powders. Elegant packaging, great price points, products that worked for teenage me. Seeing Catrice again made me feel nostalgic, and their products are still very reasonably priced.
I snapped up a bottle of their HD Liquid Coverage Foundation when it was on sale for KRW6,900 (ca USD 6) at my local Watsons. Super price for 30 ml of product! Did it manage to kick off my holy grail foundation (Dr Jart's BB Dis-A-Pore) off its throne? Whee, where do I begin?
This cream seems to be a fan favourite everywhere I look. Even famous Korean skin care blogger Skin & Tonics waxed lyrical about this product, though she did say that the addition of horse oil somewhat puts her off using this product. When I saw this go on sale for about KRW 15,000 (ca USD 14) at my local Watsons, which is half of its usual price, I snapped it up, very proud of myself for getting such a hyped product for a great price. Did I like it though? Review: Physiogel Hypoallergenic // Daily Moisture Therapy Facial Cream for dry and sensitive skin20/2/2018 Today's review is about Physiogel's Daily Moisture Therapy Fa cial Cream! I received this cream from my mum in law, and therefore cannot really tell you how much it cost when she purchased it. However, I do remember seeing it in supermarkets in my area for ca. KRW 19,000 or round about USD 18.
It comes out of the tube a regular, emollient white cream that applies smoothly. When I used this, I applied it as the last or second to last step in my skin care routine. I tend to hydrate my skin with lots and lots of hydrating products sandwiched between a toner and a final product like an oil at nighttime or a sunscreen during the day, because, as I realised in my mid 20s, my skin was oily but actually severely dehydrated. Once I started hydrating my skin, my acne also started to subside. Therefore, I am always interested in keeping my skin's hydration levels as high as I possibly can, and this cream seemed promising judging from the description on the tube. I also read a few reviews, all of which were raving and waxing lyrical about how this product saved their skin, etc. But how did I like it? This battered tube really tells you how much I enjoyed using this cream! It is boh's Derma Intensive Panthenol Cream, I bought it on a whim for around KRW 20,000 at Olive Young when it was on sale.
Texture wise, this is a very thick and emollient type of product, and comes out of the tube a viscous looking, whitish paste. Personally, this is a cream I used in the evening rather than morning, due to its gooey nature. I tend to use water- and silicone based foundations in the daytime, and therefore would refrain from using it under make-up. But you do you! If you like to wear thick creams under make-up to give you that glowy, dewy look of freshly polished apples, by all means give it a try, because this cream is probably great under cream and stick foundations or mattifying base products. So, here's one thing you should know about living in Korea. Koreans do not naturally smell or have any body odour whatsoever, so people do not usually apply deodorant before going out. As a result, the few deodorant brands you can get in Korea are horrendously overpriced, the prices inflated to black market levels. Personally, I don't really like spray deodorants as of late, preferring to opt for roll-ons or sticks instead. This one in particular is available for around KRW 5,000 (roughly USD 5) at Korea's most eminent drug stores, Olive Young and Watsons. It is indeed one of the cheapest options available.
It is a roll on type of deodorant, and personally, I like it a lot. I have repurchased it a number of times because of the creamy, comforting scent that is reminiscent of Greek yogurt, vanilla and a bit of coconut too, according to my husband. It did not dry out my pits the way some deodorants are wont to do. Highly recommended! Hi there! This lip pencil came in a special goodie bag available for a discount price at my local Watsons. It contained a lip tint, this pencil, and some other small items, all for KRW 10,000 (less than USD 10). Therefore, I cannot tell you the exact price, though I have seen it on its own at Watsons for KRW 10,000 in the past.
This, unfortunately, is not a true empty product in the sense that I used it up, but more in the sense that I pulled it out of my bag one day, held it at an angle as I did so, and whoopsie-daisy, there went about 2/3 of the remaining product. Unfortunately, no colour swatches for this very reason. I was rather sad, considering that I really liked it! The texture is firm but creamy enough to draw lines, and won't skip. Its texture is slightly waxy, so lipstick will adhere better to it. Personally, I much prefer creamy lipsticks over any other kind of lipstick, but using a lip primer or pencil underneath helps extend their longevity on my lips without drying them out something awful. This is where this lip liner came in. It is a MLBB (my lips but better) type of product for me, and made my natural lip colour look more radiant when worn on its own. It did not dry out my lips and the nib was just right in terms of being able to draw a fine enough line while still being able to cover some substantial areas in a short amount of time if I wanted to. I would definitely repurchase if it became available again. So, here goes. I am a bit of a lip balm snob. Vaseline has never ever done it for me, and nor do any petroleum jelly based products for that matter. I am currently in the process of finishing up that famed Rosebud Salve that everyone and their mother is talking about, though I do not see why it is being hyped so much— but that is a review for another day, once it has been used up (it is on its last legs at the moment).
The lip balms that I like best are very emollient, soothing, and do not exacerbate the pain of cracked lips or those dry lips that can only characterised as lip liner lips — lips that are so dry and irritated, a red line forms around the mouth much like a lip liner would. Thankfully, Burt's Bees lip balms have never disappointed me. I have tried several flavours so far — mango, peppermint, honey, and a few more that I cannot recall right now. They are decently moisturising, and if on sale, the price is decent enough too. Truth be told, they are not my all time favourite lip balm though. That honour goes to Nivea's lip butters in those adorable little tins. Wish I could get them here in Korea, alas! — they are not available here as far I can see. Back to Burt's Bees. These babies are delicious and decently moisturising, and are of decent enough quality to keep repurchasing. In the meantime, the hunt for my holy grail lip balm continues. Melvita's Damask Rose Floral Water came to me thanks to my Korean godmother, who stopped by my Korean mum's one day and kindly gifted me with a bunch of Melvita products. Thanks fairy godmother!
This product is a rose water toner, which I used after my acid toner and before any serums or ampoules and the like. It smells beautiful, and the size is decent too — 200ml, which will go a long way towards keeping your skin smelling beautiful and feeling refreshed. Melvita lists the price as EUR14.90, which I feel is a decent price for a rose water toner. When I used this, I would always feel a cooling sensation on my face, and that scent is just absolutely beautiful, too. Was it hydrating, though? To be perfectly honest, it was not the most hydrating toner that I have ever used, nor was I expecting it to. It did hydrate a bit and helped other products sit well on top of it. I always use a lot of other products on top of my toners, so I am not expecting a toner to do all the hydrating — I prefer many thin layers of hydration and nutrients rather than expecting one product alone to do the job. This was a decent enough product for me to keep using until it was used up, and I genuinely, thoroughly, enjoyed it thanks to its scent and cooling sensation. It did not break me out nor irritated my skin. On the other hand, it did not wow me extraordinarily either or make me want to seek it out in particular. I'll keep trying other toners in the meantime. |
