Yesterday's palette was about Catrice's foundation. Today, let me talk about their concealer palette! This is a nifty little palette, very light, easy to carry and to pack. I have not been able to go travelling for a long time, so cannot attest to how well it does on a trip, but I would imagine that this palette would do extremely well on the road. I paid about KRW 6,000 at my local Watsons when it was on sale (ca USD 5), a price you really cannot argue with. How did I fare? I had been wanting to try a green concealer for a while, but at the same time, hadn't wanted to splurge. At around the same time, my holy grail under eye concealer (Skin Food's Salmon Dark Circle Concealer Cream) had run out and I was looking for a cheaper replacement.
Before I apply my makeup, I like to apply a silicone based primer to really blur any uneven patches and create a smooth canvas. I also use a bunch of moisturising and hydrating products underneath. However, when I applied the concealer, I felt that the textures didn't really jive well. I had a bit of a hard time blending the product into my skin - because of my silicone primer, it would sit on top. Let me be clear here - this is purely my fault. I would imagine that if you were to use a water based primer, this product would blend really well. But there was another issue that I had, and that is the pigmentation of the product. Now, I get that this is a drugstore product, and therefore, pigmentation will not be crazy high. That's why you're paying a lower price. When I applied BB cream on top, the concealer got completely lost - it was as though I had not applied any whatsoever. My dark circles (I used the salmon colour to conceal) and pimple marks (I used the green colour to conceal redness) seemed the same as without the concealer. In the end, I stopped using this palette simply because it added an extra step or two in my routine without really giving me any visible benefits. I like unreal looking, Photoshopped skin; natural looking skin with imperfections peeking through is not for me personally. But it might be for you! That being said, I do think that this palette would be great for people with a different skin care routine and concerns than mine. Do try this palette if - a) you use a water based primer, and b) you are looking to enhance, rather than hardcore conceal, your facial features. While the coverage is light, I think it would give a really natural look if patted in properly and with a very thin layer of foundation on top.
