Today, a favourite product of mine! It's Fresh's Black Tea Age Delay Firming Serum. Fresh would ordinarily be a bit out of my price range. My mum in law did however gift me with a number of deluxe samples, which I gratefully accepted. Out of all the skincare products she gave me, this has got to be my favourite. First off, let's talk about the packaging! This serum is housed in a dark brown glass bottle, which goes well with their apothecary touch that they seem to like to add to their packaging and their overall whimsical brand image. It also reduces oxidation and degeneration of the product, as the dark glass protects the product from light. Glass is also less prone to react chemically with its contents (as opposed to, say, many types of plastic).
The cloudy, milky white liquid is dispensed using a little dropper (you can see me squeezing the rubber part of it on top, which is very soft and malleable). Personally, I love this kind of packaging as it allows you to get the product out very precisely. A+ on the packaging, Fresh! Now, onto the serum itself. Let me tell you, it smells like bubble tea heaven. I am a huge tea drinker (herbal tea, black tea, infusions, fruit tea, bubble tea, milk tea - any tea at all really) and the smell of this serum gets me every time. Absolutely stunning. It goes on very rich but thankfully, is very easily absorbed. Texture wise, it is definitely more suitable towards the end of your skincare routine due to its thick consistency. Personally, I used this after cleansing, an acid toner, and a hydrating toner. You can even layer a light serum before going over it with this one. I would then finish with a moisturiser and sunscreen or an oil (depending on the time of day). As for its efficacy, I read on Fresh's website that it is meant to reduce wrinkles and that it is supposed to have a corset-like effect. Seeing as I only have fine lines right now, I cannot in all honesty attest to a firming effect, though I did feel that it kept skin moisturised and well nourished. Though it was rich, it was not heavy or greasy, and love that in a serum. Interestingly, though this contains a bunch of irritants and acne triggers, this did not break me out at all. Sadly, I do not see myself repurchasing this any time soon, only because it is prohibitively expensive for me. If this is within your budget - $98 for 50 ml - I say, by all means go for it.
