Hi! Today, we'll be talking about a mystery product, which, according to my Google search, does not exist. I bought this one heavily discounted at my local Watsons. Talking of which, apparently Watsons has been taken over by GS, a local Korean retailer, following which my local store was rebranded and now goes under the name 'Lalavla', complete with a neon pink and white store front, which in my opinion is reminiscent of Superdrug's store branding. Super girly. Apparently, the name is supposed to be a synergy of lala and blabla. Oh dear. Either way, I was trying to look up more information on this gel but for some reason or the other, I cannot find any information or reviews whatsoever. Zilch. So here's mine! According to a brief Internet search, Carezone specialises in catering to people with sensitive skin. Judging from the label on top, this is indeed something they were trying to do with this gel, too. At the time of purchase, I was breaking out badly and needed something to soothe some deep, blind pimples and the soreness associated with treating those bastards.
The product itself is a clear, viscous liquid that, thankfully, is not too runny. It absorbs quickly into skin - perhaps a little too quickly. What I noticed, however, was a boozy scent that I usually associate with a high alcohol content. Now you should know that my skin cannot deal with alcohol. It dries it out something awful and usually exacerbates any issues I might be having at the time. I also found that it was fragranced. Kind of like aftershave but much milder. A fresh, clean scent that I would have enjoyed as a perfume but not on my face. As I am getting older and approaching the ripe old age of 30, I find myself getting more and more sensitive to scented cosmetics. Sure enough, as I kept using this, I found my skin drying out. Of course, it is possible that this product alone was not at fault. It could have been a combination of external and lifestyle factors. But I don't like to take risks, and as I was going through a bad skin phase, I didn't want to push my luck further. Into the bin it went. I have since looked up other items in the A.R.H. lineup and they appear to contain irritants such as fragrance and alcohol, so I'd wager that the likelihood that this gel skin treatment also contained irritants is definitely there. If you have skin that is not usually easily irritated or acne prone, and that takes well to alcohol and fragrance, give it a shot. I got it for a really good price and was sad that it didn't work for me personally.
